White and Nerdy (They See Us Bowlin')

A couple weeks ago, some friends and I went bowling. We happened to go on the night of the bowling tournament, and we happened to get there right as the newscaster was getting there. He happened to find us more interesting than anyone else, so we happened to get on TV. Funny how things go sometimes.

It was a night of heavy breathing, nasally voices, and awkwardness. Some people laughed at us, others tried to beat us up.

Unfortunately, we forgot our protractors (so our angles were a tad bit off) and inhalers.

Justin: "I'm not really sure, but I imagine that strike felt a lot like kissing a girl."
Josh (at Sonic): "Yes, hello. I'd like to order a large banana."

...
What do YOU do on your weekends? :)

Best OYM

We have been challenged to not only look for, but create, opportunities to use our stake's new missionary strategy. Here is an excellent example of Open Your Mouth:

Chris: Kaitlin, do you have an extra pencil?
Me: Nope.
Chris: Justin, do you have an extra pencil?
Justin: I have something BETTER than a pencil. Would you like to hear about the gospel?

Ok, thanks. Guess what my daring, I mean sweet, sister got me for my birthday? Yes, that's right.

What can I say? It's so...so....snuggable. Thanks Chelsea! It's a dream come true!

YouTube has gone too far

There has been a recent trend on YouTube: the act of taking clips from certain movies and making music videos out of them. Typically, there is nothing wrong with this. These videos tend to be very masculine and awesome, with manly combinations of action movies and hard rock, i.e. Black Hawk Down w/ Breaking Benjamin, 300 w/ Creed, and Saving Private Ryan w/ Metallica. However, this trend has gotten out of hand and tribute videos are popping up everywhere. Just yesterday, I had the urge to find the Homeward Bound theme song (there is nothing wrong or unmanly with that, it is a good song). I stumbled across this. And then I realized unemployment is a reality.

Who spends time to do this crap? But that's not all. There are the comments. For example, here is a statement from the distinguished TMNTno1fan4life. (Yes, that translates to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles number 1 fan for life....)

OMG I LOVE THIS VIDEO!!!!
i love homeward bound, but this song, i get so emotional i love the song soo much

i named my dog shadow in honor of this shadow.

now im going to watch movie 1&2

Apparently, they are not only unemployed, but barely literate as well. And so I will leave you with this touching rendition of Sam and Frodo set to the music of Nickel Creek.

You Say Tomato, I Say Vegetable

I'm addicted to reading the highlights on the Yahoo homepage. I just saw one called "Why Tomatoes are Fruit." Their only argument: it has seeds. Well, yes, it has seeds. And so do cucumbers, green beans, and zucchini. Vegetables come from different parts of the plant- the flower: broccoli, the seeds: corn, the root: carrots, the tuber: potato. The fruit of a tomato plant is the round lil' red thing that we like to put in salads. Let's compare salads. First, you have a nice fruit salad with watermelon, cantaloupe, strawberries, grapes, tomatoes...Tomatoes?? No. You will never see a tomato in that mixture. You will see a tomato with lettuce and cucumbers topped with Italian Herb and Cheese croutons. How would you feel if someone tried to call you a fruit? Exactly. It's almost like demoting Pluto from being a planet (but we'll save that one for another post).
